A number of cards in the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG to date have been inspired by spin-off anime series Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V. One of these cards is the Battlewasp – Gran Partisan the Revolution which was included as part of recently-released Core Booster Rage of the Abyss.

About Battlewasp – Gran Partisan the Revolution (Rage of the Abyss ROTA-JP036)

The reason why the card’s name has the word “revolution” in it directly relates to the anime. In the Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V anime, Shinji Weber rallied the Commons to revolt against the Topsiders who had been oppressing the Commons. Shinji was a user of the Battlewasp card archetype; hence, this revolutionary element is reflected in this card. Therefore, those who are fans of Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V will likely be particularly drawn to this card.

The card’s name also carries a dual meaning. The word “partisan” can refer to a specific type of weapon—a polearm which consists of a spearhead mounted on a long wooden shaft. The ends of the character’s legs resemble that weapon. Additionally, the word “partisan” can also refer to a member of an irregular military force resisting an occupation by external military forces, usually by way of insurgent movements. This is exactly how the Commons attempted to stand against the Topsiders in the anime.

This is among the Rage of the Abyss cards which can come in Quarter Century Secret Rare, the rarity designed to honor the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG’s 25th anniversary.

This card’s English version will be out on 10 October 2024, just as the rest of Rage of the Abyss will.
