The eight promotional Pokémon TCG cards of the Poncho-wearing Eevee series released in 2017 have unsurprisingly become among the most coveted seventh-generation cards due to the immense popularity of Eevee and its eight evolutions. Of these eight, the card that’s accumulated the highest value is the Poncho-wearing Eevee card dressed as a Vaporeon.

While all eight Poncho-wearing Eevee cards are much sought-after, there are nevertheless clear differences in the value of each of the cards. Of the octet, it’s the version depicting Eevee in a poncho resembling its Water-type evolution that tops the chart. What’s notable, though, is that its value far outstrips those of the other Poncho-wearing Eevee cards.

The card’s blue plaid background is a direct reference to Vaporeon, while Eevee’s poncho implies that the Eevee in the image dreams of evolving into Vaporeon someday. Its “Muddy Water?” attack also has a question mark after it, implying that this isn’t really Vaporeon.

The layer of holofoil that covers the background also gives the card a semi-reflective visual element that causes the background to appear similar to the shimmering surface of a body of water, further playing to the card’s theme and elevating its value.

This card was never released in English.
