Pokémon TCG Regidrago V

Although Paradigm Trigger [S12] was a Pokémon TCG set released during Pokémon’s eighth generation, it came hot on the heels of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, the remakes of fourth-generation main-series Pokémon video games Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. In the original Diamond and Pearl, the Regis—back then, there were but four of them—were part of a post-game sidequest that allowed the player to obtain Regigigas. In Gen 8, two more Regis—Regidrago and Regieleki—were added; it was in part this combination of cross-generation factors that made this card a major pull.

The Super Rare (SR) card’s illustration depicts the Dragon-type Legendary in Split-Decision Ruins where Regidrago and Regieleki can be found in The Crown Tundra, the second of two DLCs for the Pokémon Sword and Shield video games. Regidrago’s massive head is shown prominently—a direct reference to the in-universe lore that surrounds it.

According to Pokémon’s canon, Regigigas created Regidrago via crystallized dragon energy, only to run out of crystals after building Regidrago’s head. Ancient people who lived in Galar thousands of years in the past then sealed Regigigas away in the ruins, fearing what might ensue should Regidrago’s true form ever come to be.

On top of that, far in the background a Lugia can be seen in the sky. The box Legendary of Pokémon Silver has always been a fan favorite; its presence thus elevates the card’s value. Finally, Regidrago V is an important card in the increasingly metagame-relevant Regidrago VSTAR deck as it evolves into the deck’s titular card.

The English version of this card is card 184/195 in the Silver Tempest set.

The price of a Regidrago V (Paradigm Trigger [S12] 108/098) card of SR rarity is 2,400 JPY (~US$15).
