[Pokémon TCG] Not the Real Sylveon? Not an Issue: Poncho-wearing Eevee (SM-P Promotional Cards 144/SM-P)
There's as much fan demand for the "fake evolution" as there is for the real one.
Eevee and its eight evolutions have always been among the most popular Pokémon. Thus, it should be no surprise that any promotional Eevee card—such as Poncho-wearing Eevee—would garner a great deal of demand from the Pokémon TCG community. Add this to the fact that this is a “gimmicky” Eevee card as well as the fact that the card alludes to one of the most popular Eeveelutions and all the elements for a massive pull are in place.
The name of the Poncho-wearing Eevee card says it all—the image depicts a forward-facing Eevee wearing a Sylveon poncho. While this may seem basic, this card leverages the immense popularity of both Eevee and Sylveon to draw attention. Additionally, the fact that Eevee is wearing a Sylveon poncho is completely in-character—likely implying that the Eevee in the picture dreams of evolving into its Fairy-type evolution someday.
In addition, Sylveon is among the biggest fan favorites among the eight Eeveelutions, so the fact that Eevee is “cosplaying” as Sylveon adds to this card’s allure. Even the plaid pink background references both Sylveon’s pastel color scheme as well as its Fairy type—one of the Pokémon types most loved by the fanbase.
Even Poncho-wearing Eevee’s attack alludes to the fact that this card is one of an Eevee dressed in a Sylveon costume. Its attack is “Draining Kiss?”—a reference to Sylveon’s Draining Kiss attack. The question mark, of course, implies that it’s not the real Draining Kiss attack.
This card was never released in English.
The price of a Poncho-wearing Eevee (SM-P Promotional Cards 144/SM-P) card is 150,000 JPY (~US$942).
