ONE PIECE Card Game Green Bonney Deck

Following the introduction of its titular Leader card when 500 Years in the Future [OP-07] was released in February 2024, the Green Bonney deck has become among the staples of the ONE PIECE Card Game metagame. As things stand, this deck shows no sign of slowing down and will likely remain among the biggest threats in the meta for the foreseeable future.

This defensively-oriented deck makes use of a stall mechanic through the effect of its Leader card, the Jewelry Bonney card from 500 Years in the Future [OP-07]. At the expense of one DON!! card, the player will be able to rest one of the opponent’s Character or Leader cards. By doing so continuously, the player can keep the opponent’s aggression in check, save counter cards for more opportune moments, and buy more time to set up high-cost Character cards.

The main tactic employed when this deck is played is what’s known as the “fortress” strategy. At some point in the mid-game, Eustass Kid from Romance Dawn [OP-01] can be deployed. When rested, that card redirects all opposing attacks to itself. This weakens opposing attacks and facilitates counterplay options.

That can be followed up by playing Donquixote Doflamingo from Kingdoms of Intrigue [OP-04] to limit opposing pressure by keeping the opponent’s Character cards rested as well as Basil Hawkins from 500 Years in the Future [OP-07] and its blocker effect that rests an opponent’s Character should the opponent attempt to remove Hawkins from the field via a card’s effect.

In the late game, a pair of cards from Wings of the Captain [OP-06]—Hody Jones and Roronoa Zoro—can step in to clinch the W.

The Green Bonney deck’s toughest matchup comes against the Black Lucci deck. That deck is able to rapidly KO the Green Bonney deck’s DON!!-ramping cards and potential stymie the fortress strategy. In this matchup, one of the most important cards is Donquixote Rosinante from Awakening of the New Era [OP-05] for its ability to protect Zoro and Kid.

Against the Black Lucci deck, the player is advised to raise the tempo because the Black Lucci deck holds significant late-game advantages. It’s almost certain that the player will have to use Zoro and his three attacks per turn to finish off the opponent.

The total cost of every card in the Green Bonney deck is at least 36,390 JPY (~US$226).
