Yu-Gi-Oh TCG The Duke of Demise

The entire Animation Chronicle 2024 Yu-Gi-Oh TCG set, like Animation Chronicle sets of previous years, places emphasis on cards which were first introduced in the Yu-Gi-Oh anime. The Duke of Demise was first shown as part of the deck owned by Yami Bakura, the primary antagonist of the anime’s final arc.

This Secret Rare card is among the leading pulls of the newly-released Animation Chronicle 2024. In addition to the card’s notable rarity, the fact that it depicts a card first introduced in the anime over 20 years ago but had never had a real-life counterpart until now. Thus, those who first got into Yu-Gi-Oh via the anime are more likely to be drawn to this card.

The card’s gameplay qualities also allude to the anime. The Fusion Materials required for this card to enter play are two Fiend and/or Zombie monsters. In the Yu-Gi-Oh anime, Bakura’s deck includes both of those monster types. Additionally, its ATK of 2000 and DEF of 1700 are the same as those of The Earl of Demise and Headless Knight respectively—the card’s Fusion Materials in the anime.

There hasn’t yet been a confirmed English release date for Animation Chronicle 2024 and thus this card.

The sale price of a Secret Rare copy of The Duke of Demise (Animation Chronicle 2024 AC04-JP002) is 3,000 JPY (~US$19).
