Anyone who closely follows the Yu-Gi-Oh anime will recognize Silent Magician LV8 at once. After all, it was one of the primary cards wielded by series protagonist Yugi Muto. Due to its iconic status within the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG community and Yu-Gi-Oh fandom in general, it was no surprise that Silent Magician LV8 was selected as the cover card of the newly-released Animation Chronicle 2024 set. However, that’s far from the only reason why this card is unquestionably the single biggest get from Animation Chronicle 2024.

This iteration of Silent Magician LV8 is the sixth to ever be released over a span dating back to 2005 and the first new one since Duelist Pack: Pharaoh’s Memories which was launched in 2016. However, this is the only one which comes in the rarity of Quarter Century Secret Rare created in honor of the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG’s 25th anniversary, giving this card a level of prestige that its predecessors never had.

The major reason why Silent Magician LV8 is a truly iconic card is because of how and when it was introduced in the anime. Silent Magician LV8 was introduced at the climax of the original series during the final stages of Yugi’s Duel against Atem. The card’s artwork directly references this scene (though in the anime, this card was known as “Silent Magician LV5”).

This card will be released in English along with the rest of Animation Chronicle 2024 on a date yet to be announced.

The price of a Quarter Century Secret Rare version of Silent Magician LV8 (Animation Chronicle 2024 AC04-JP000) is 15,000 JPY (~US$94).
