[Pokémon TCG] Bravery Charm Is the HP Buff That So Many Decks Welcome (Clay Burst [SV2D] 067/071)
Who wouldn't want extra HP?
The Raging Bolt ex deck has recently risen to prominence thanks to the introduction of Teal Mask Ogerpon ex in the Mask of Change [SV6] set. However, one often overlooked yet still critical part of this deck is one which was there before Mask of Change [SV6] dropped. That card is Bravery Charm, introduced to the Pokémon TCG as part of Clay Burst [SV2D].
On the surface, this card appears rather ordinary. It’s a Pokémon Tool that adds 50 to the maximum HP of the Basic Pokémon to which it’s attached. However, once it’s placed on the Raging Bolt ex card from Wild Force [SV5K] which is the deck’s titular card, Raging Bolt ex’s HP maxes out at 290. This makes it an absolute menace to deal with, often necessitating the opponent’s use of gusting or supplementary damage purely to manage what the boosted Paradox Pokémon now threatens.
Due to its HP-boosting qualities, this card also features in defensive decks such as the Pidgeot ex deck and Snorlax deck. The more HP the deck’s titular Pokémon has, the easier it is for the player to stall out the opponent, grind them down, and claim the win.
Most recently, Bravery Charm has found itself as a key part of the new Gardevoir ex deck variant featuring the Munkidori card from Mask of Change [SV6] that’s taken the Pokémon TCG world by storm. That’s because Bravery Charm serves as an additional method of damage and HP manipulation—the core element of the deck’s strategy.
In English, this card is card 173/193 in the Paldea Evolved [PAL] set.
Not being a particularly rare card and viable entirely for its gameplay utility, a Bravery Charm (Clay Burst [SV2D] 067/071) card isn’t expensive at all, selling for 270 JPY (~US$1.72) per copy.
