Los Angeles-based Advisory Board Crystals (Abc.), renowned for its thought-provoking designs steeped in symbolism, collaborates with Merrell’s 1TRL division on a reimagined Hydro Moc. Entitled “The Sacred Mountain 2,” this iteration embodies the archetypal journey towards enlightenment, echoing historical figures’ quests for deeper meaning.

Drawing inspiration from Mount Shasta’s mystical lore, Abc.’s Hydro Moc boasts a palette of Cream, Black, and White. Abc.’s signature elements—the magnetic closure, woven pull, and authenticity hologram—are present alongside a custom bootleg turbo strap. Furthermore, the shoe utilizes Bloom performance foam, ensuring both comfort and eco-friendliness.

The collection bridges the gap between Abc.’s Spring/Summer 2024 “Critical Thinking 2” and contemporary trends. It seamlessly blends vintage Ivy League aesthetics with the California mountaineering spirit of the ’60s, capturing the essence of evolving perspectives during periods of introspection.

Beyond the Hydro Moc, the collaboration encompasses an apparel collection. Produced by Abc., it merges technical and organic styles, featuring fabrics sourced from Japan, crystal rivets, custom components, and even mined quartz crystals. Pieces like the “stop chemical farming or erode” jacket utilize poignant messaging, aged details, and crystallized dirt stains, creating a unique blend of vintage and modern aesthetics.
