Pokémon TCG Comfey

Every deck centered around the Lost Zone makes use of this Comfey card first seen in Lost Abyss [S11] and reprinted in VSTAR Universe [S12a]. These include the Dragapult Lost Zone Box deck, the Giratina VSTAR deck, and the OG itself—the Lost Zone Box deck which is back in the spotlight after Andrew Hedrick used that deck to win the Pokémon North America International Championships (NAIC).

Flower Selecting, Comfey’s Ability, makes the Fairy-type Pokémon a must in any Lost Zone-centric deck. All such decks rely on having a set number of cards in the Lost Zone in order to carry out their respective strategies. Flower Selecting enables the player to not only place a card from the top two of the deck in the Lost Zone and thus expedite the process of filling it up; the player also gets to place the other card in hand, making Comfey a viable draw engine as well.

Additionally, thanks to Comfey’s low retreat cost of one Energy card as well as the assistance of several Trainer cards, it’s possible to use Flower Selecting multiple times on each turn by switching out the Active Comfey for another on the Bench.

Comfey is no slouch in the collectors’ department, either. Its VSTAR Universe [S12a] reprint comes in Art Rare (AR) and has a Full Art illustration of Comfey in a dark area full of plants. This might also be a reference to Comfey’s Ability and its effect.

In English, this card is card GG14/GG70 in the Crown Zenith set.

The latest figures place the value of a Comfey (VSTAR Universe [S12a] 187/172) card of AR rarity at 2,040 JPY (~US$13).
