The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam marked its 50th anniversary in 2023. To honor the occasion, the museum entered a collaboration with Pokémon, giving a Pokémon-related touch to all things related to Vincent van Gogh. Among the items that came about via this collab was a promotional Pokémon TCG card: Pikachu With Grey Felt Hat.

One of the SVP Black Star Promos, the Pikachu With Grey Felt Hat card was illustrated by Naoyo Kimura and was a Pokémon-themed take on van Gogh’s Self-Portrait with Grey Felt Hat painting. Those who remember the original painting will at once recognize the direct allusion here.

The Pokémon x Van Gogh Museum collaboration only ran for just over three months; as a result, copies of this card are limited and thus more valuable than most other promotional cards. Additionally, the fact that it’s Pikachu, the face of the Pokémon franchise, featured on not just any promotional card, but one which is truly one-of-a-kind undoubtedly jacks up its value.

In an interesting twist, this card was only ever released in English. Pikachu With Grey Felt Hat was never released in Japanese.

The sale price of a Pikachu With Grey Felt Hat is 41,000 JPY (~US$262).
