[Pokémon TCG] Gardenia’s Vigor Is a Call-Back to Gen 4 While Hyping the Remakes (Time Gazer [S10D] 078/067)
Okay, so Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were rather polarizing—but it is what it is.
Following the releases of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, the eighth-generation remakes of fourth-generation main series video games Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, all things Gen 4-related, as was expected, received a bump in publicity. Following suit, Creatures Inc. released the Time Gazer [S10D] and Space Juggler [S10P] sets that were primarily focused on content from Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
Gardenia’s Vigor, a Super Rare (SR) Supporter card depicting the Grass-type specialist who’s the Gym Leader in Eterna City, is one such card. When the Time Gazer [S10D] set to which this card belongs was released, the Pokémon fanbase in general was still riding the high of the freshly-released Diamond and Pearl remakes. Couple that with the nostalgia factor in play for those who played the original Diamond and Pearl video games and all the elements for a highly coveted pull are in place.
Gardenia’s status as a Grass-type specialist is also evident with the illustration showing her out in a field, trees behind her and leaves swirling in the breeze around her. Of course, we’d be remiss not to mention that this being a card depicting a female character, it was always primed to receive a boost to its value.
This card’s English translation is card 184/189 in the Astral Radiance set.
Buying a Gardenia’s Vigor (Time Gazer [S10D] 078/067) card costs 5,000 JPY (~US$32).
