Much of the most coveted silhouettes in the status quo are revivals from the archives of legacy brands. Case in point: adidas and their terrace shoes. In fact, that includes Nike and Jordan Brand’s entire MO with their expansive catalogue of retros.
Through nostalgia, comes novelty; and New Balance has done the same and continues to do so with the reintroduction of the New Balance 1000—celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
Following Joe Freshgoods’ well-received “When Things Were Pure” pack in April, the model is back in the spotlight. This time, it’s Aimé Leon Dore’s turn to take the reins. ALD founder and New Balance MADE in USA creative director Teddy Santis unveiled a first look at the upcoming collaboration on Instagram.
The titular pair features a tonal white and grey palette, with subtle ALD branding on the tongue, sockliner, and lateral forefoot. The former serves as the base color, with the latter accenting the “N” logos and various overlays.
Neither Santis nor New Balance have confirmed a release date yet, but there’s reason to expect their arrival this year alongside a “Black” colorway. From what else is known so far, the Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 1000 will be availed through their brick-and-click stores. Stay tuned for updates in the coming weeks!
