[Pokémon TCG] Basic Doesn’t Have to Be Boring: Teal Mask Ogerpon ex (Mask of Change [SV6] 127/101)
Teal Mask Ogerpon ex may be its default form in the video games—but that doesn't detract from this card's appeal.
When Mask of Change [SV6], the most recent Pokémon TCG expansion set, was released, it would’ve been understandable if demand for the Teal Mask Ogerpon ex card lagged behind that of its counterparts. This is because in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet video games’ DLC The Teal Mask upon which Mask of Change [SV6] is based, Ogerpon’s Teal Mask form—the DLC’s namesake—is its basic form. However, this hasn’t been the case—there’s significant interest in the Teal Mask Ogerpon ex card as well.
This Special Art Rare (SAR) card features Teal Mask Ogerpon ex donning that mask and in its Terastallized form. While Teal Mask Ogerpon ex retains its pure typing of Grass in this form, in the video games its Grass-type attacks’ Same-Type Attack Bonus (STAB) increases to 200% from the usual 150%. The crystalline physical features of Terastallization can clearly be seen; the card’s silver border and holofoil further bring out this effect.
Like the other SAR Ogerpon ex cards, this card positions Teal Mask Ogerpon ex at an angle at which its mask takes center stage. This was likely done to emphasize the point that it’s the masks than enable Ogerpon to switch between its four different forms.
An English version of Teal Mask Ogerpon ex will be in the Twilight Masquerade [TWM] set; however, it won’t be this SAR version of the card’s translation.
A Teal Mask Ogerpon ex (Mask of Change [SV6] 127/101) card of SAR rarity goes for 2,000 JPY (~US$13).
