During the livestream of the Champions League Aichi Pokémon TCG tournament, two Battle Master Decks had their release date confirmed. Based on two of the leading decks of the current meta, the Charizard ex and Chien-Pao ex decks, both Battle Master Decks will be released in Japan on 17 May 2024.

The cards in each deck have been specifically selected for gameplay viability. In addition, the titular cards of each deck will come in never-before-seen alternate artwork. The rest of the cards will be reprints.

It’s worth noting that the Charizard ex card won’t be the usual Fire-type card, but instead the Terastallized Dark-type version which has dominated tournaments across the globe.

In addition to the 60-card deck, each Battle Master Deck will come with a set of damage counters and markers, a VSTAR marker, a playmat, a coin, a set of 64 card sleeves, a rulebook, and a “Road to Battle Master” guidebook.

An international release is yet to be confirmed.

The price of either version of the Battle Master Deck is 3,000 JPY (~US$20).
