Originally released alongside the rescheduled Tokyo 2020 Olympics, the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Sashiko” seamlessly employed the Japanese motif onto the iconic silhouette.

True to its name, the “Sashiko” (inspired by the Japanese stitching technique) is a masterpiece of textures and patterns. Each panel is distinct yet harmoniously unified, creating a visually stunning patchwork.

The design masterfully plays with contrast and balance, utilizing white and navy hues that echo traditional Sashiko color palettes. From the medial stripe design to the lateral marled weave reminiscent of a blizzard, the AF1 transformed into a canvas for intricate detailing and craftsmanship.

Diving deeper into its symbolism and storytelling, white and bone suede overlays—adorning the Swoosh, eyelets, and rear—are embellished with golden Kanji characters.

Mini Swooshes and special-edition dubraes on the forefoot further the theme, presided over by a red-on-white tongue label and insole branding that pay homage to the Japanese national flag. As a final flourish, additional Kanji graphics peek through a fully translucent outsole.

There isn’t a firm release date yet but enjoy a look at the official images in the gallery above to tide you through the wait. Stay tuned!
