It’s Wrestlemania szn! With the 40th edition of this granddaddy of wrestling events upon us, there’s no better time to highlight some of the hottest sneakers worn in the ring so far.

WWE has a long history of featuring some of the most popular sneakers, with wrestlers sporting them for their entrances or high-flying moves, adding even more hype to their already electrifying moments. Over the years, we’ve seen iconic moments where legendary wrestlers like Shane McMahon, John Cena, and Seth Rollins were wearing unforgettable sneakers. These kicks will be watched and adored by fans for years to come. As we gear up for Wrestlemania weekend (6-7 April)…

Let’s take a look at some of the hottest and maybe, most expensive sneakers that have graced the wrestling ring over the years so far.

Shane McMahon

First up, former wrestling royalty and fan favorite, Mr Shane McMahon himself. When it comes to highlighting the best or most iconic heat on feet in the ring, Shane is the best person for it.

He has been spotted wearing the best silhouette in the Air Jordan line, the Nike Air Jordan 1 several times and the holy grail of them all, the Travis Scott x Nike Air Jordan 1 High OG “Mocha”

Moving on from the AJ1s, Shane’s also paraded a few other Jordans ringside, most notably the Nike Air Jordan 3 “True Blue”. Now that’s a collector’s item for any die-hard Michael Jordan fan.

Most notably, Shane McMahon was one of the first few wrestlers to feature on Sneaker Shopping with Complex back in 2016.

John Cena

John Cena, the former face of WWE, deserves a shoutout for his sneaker game too. His entrance attire was pure inspiration, and while everyone was copying his “Attitude Adjustment” move on the playground antics, Cena was rocking iconic kicks.

He wasn’t afraid to make Reebok Pumps a statement piece, specifically the Omni Lites and Bringbacks. He’s also been seen in other kicks like the Jordan Flipsyde and Under Armour Proto Speed II, but those were less show-stopping. Still, John Cena’s swagger remains undefeated till now.

Young Bucks

In the new era of professional wrestling, the Young Bucks of AEW stand out for their unique style. Their love for sneakers makes them a favorite among fans who appreciate kicks. The Bucks frequently wrestle in high-end sneakers, even incorporating the highly-coveted, and likely replica, Dior x Air Jordan 1s into a storyline a few years back. I mean who would want to tarnish an absolute grail of a shoe (the real one) by wrestling, am I right?

A few months later, they famously used a pair of Travis Scott Jordans, complete with thumbtacks glued to the soles, during their Cage Match against the Lucha Bros at All Out 2021.

Roman Reigns

We can’t forget the main event of this year’s WrestleMania, Roman Reigns, the Tribal Chief. This WrestleMania is his chance to solidify his dominance or face an upset that could reshape professional wrestling.

When it comes to footwear choices in the ring, the Tribal Chief has sported a variety of styles during his current title reign.  Fans have seen him in everything from Nike Air Jordan 4s like the “Black Cat” to adidas YEEZY BOOST 350 V2s.

Earlier in his career, Reigns wrestled in Nikes, with some memorable appearances in the classic Air Jordan 4 “Bred”.  He’s also competed in the Nike SFB Boot, a tactical boot with a black upper and white sole. Roman Reigns might not have the most extensive sneaker collection in WWE, but his footwear choices are always interesting. Acknowledge him!

Seth Rollins

Last but not least, we have Seth Rollins, a former friend turned foe who’s now part of the other half of WrestleMania’s main event. His role at WrestleMania 40 is complex. Once bitter rivals, he and Cody Rhodes now find themselves united against a common enemy in Roman Reigns.

But not to stray away from Rollins’ impressive performance, let’s take a look at why he finds himself on this list. The MSCHF boot—the one that had people talking for a time, that sparked a long discourse on how far sneakers could go in terms of eccentricity—made its way onto Monday Night RAW thanks to Seth.

He faced off in a match against The Miz and Austin Theory, ultimately emerging victorious. He first defeated Austin Theory, then finished off The Miz with his signature “Curb Stomp” finisher, this time cleverly utilizing the infamous red MSCHF boots.

Of course, several entertainers like Kofi Kingston, The Usos, and Batista, with their impressive sneaker collections, might have missed out on this list. But that’s to be expected—the sneaker game is booming, and WWE is one of the best platforms to showcase them.

With the constant influx of fresh kicks and the ever-evolving fashion sense of WWE superstars, this list is just a glimpse into the incredible footwear gracing the squared circle. Perhaps we’ll have a whole new list next year? Stay tuned!
