Mizuno and VAINL ARCHIVE, two of Japan’s most exciting exports in the space, come together for a special joint effort over the former’s WAVE PROPHECY LS. The collaboration celebrates “Street Knowledge”, a concept deeply rooted in VAINL ARCHIVE’s DNA.

While this isn’t the Tokyo-based label’s first rodeo with another industry heavy hitter, it is their first with Mizuno.

Founded in 2009, VAINL ARCHIVE has carved a unique niche in the streetwear scene. Designer Okita Kohei brings a seasoned perspective, having witnessed the evolution of Harajuku’s Ura-Harajuku movement firsthand. His collections, inspired by the ever-shifting urban landscape, have garnered respect from both insiders and outsiders.

Deceptive at first glance, the pair appears monochromatic with its dark color scheme. Therein lies a complex interplay of subtle color variations and diverse materials. Like a miniature city, each detail represents a different facet of the urban environment.

Behind, the brand logo is embedded in the seven-color reflector on the heel, mimicking the way light dances on oil slicks shimmering on asphalt.

The VAINL ARCHIVE x Mizuno Wave Prophecy LS “Street Knowledge” is scheduled for release on 5 April at Mizuno and select retailers. Find them then and there with an RRP of 30,800 JPY (~US$200).
