SoCal-based artist Joshua Vides is known for his monochromatic, cartoon-inspired style that blurs the line between art and everyday objects. This time, his canvas of choice is the iconic Bathing Ape Road Sta silhouette, in a collaboration with BAPE set to captivate both sneaker and art lovers alike.

Vides is no stranger to sneaker collabs, though—having made his mark on the Converse Chuck 70, New Balance 57/40, and New Balance 327. In this collaboration, he merges his distinct aesthetic with BAPE’s renowned streetwear status to produce a sneaker with a visually striking design that stays true to his artistic roots.

The sneaker boasts a sleek White and Black color palette, evoking a “cell-shaded” effect reminiscent of comic book artistry. This effect is achieved through meticulously applied thick Black outlines surrounding each White panel, including the iconic BAPE STA logo adorning the midfoot.

Further Black accents grace the tongue and heel, while a whimsical insole design showcases a cartoon BAPE Head alongside Vides’ recognizable traffic cone motif. The design is rounded off with a tonal midsole and outsole, maintaining a polished aesthetic throughout.

For avid collectors, a special treat awaits as 100 pairs of this collaboration will be presented in exclusive packaging crafted from A-Grade Baltic Birch, each personally signed and numbered by Joshua Vides himself.

The Joshua Vides x A Bathing Ape Road Sta is scheduled for release today, 14 March 2024, via Joshua Vides’ website. A wider release follows on 16 March 2024 through BAPE. Pricing details are yet to be confirmed at this time.
