Set the Court on Fire With the Nike GS Air Flight 89 “Fire Red”
Despite originally being the sibling sneaker of the Air Jordan 4, the Air Flight 89 is now quickly creating its own legacy through colorways like this one.
After years behind closed doors deep in Nike’s vault, the Nike Air Flight 89 returned to circulation last year. Having proven to be a hit with sneakerheads, Nike has continued to release colorways for it—next up will be the Nike GS Air Flight 89 “Fire Red”.
When it was re-released, the Air Flight 89 was intended to be a sibling release to the Air Jordan 4. Both were originally released in 1989 and include many similar features for performance maximization. For this reason, many Air Jordan 4 color schemes are referenced in Air Flight 89 colorways. The “Fire Red”, for example, is primarily influenced by the Nike Air Jordan 4 Retro “Alternate 89”.
Like that of the “Alternate 89”, the “Fire Red” makes use of a two-toned color scheme on a chunky, multi-layered design. In another similarity to its older counterpart, the “Fire Red” mainly uses its titular color for accents on the midsole, liner, Swoosh, and piping surrounding the lower side lace panel.
While no specific release date for the Nike GS Air Flight 89 “Fire Red” has yet been determined, it will be released in March 2024. A pair goes for US$120.
