[Update 7 May 2024] The Nike Air Max 1 “Chili Pepper”, now known as the “Hot Sauce”, is finally arriving! The pair will drop on 9 May via Nike.com and select retailers with a retail price of US$160. Mark your calendars and anticipate the release!

The temperature’s rising for Air Max Day 2024! Nike’s annual celebration of all things Air is heating up with confirmed releases like the Air Max Dn, and the new Nike Air Max 1 “Chili Pepper” might be joining the party.

This colorway rocks a sleek white base with a metallic silver mudguard and neutral grey accents, but the real eye-catcher is the “chili pepper” treatment.

Look closely at the iconic Swoosh—it’s Chili Red with subtle black speckles. Turn the shoe around and you’ll see a flaming chili pepper replacing the “i” in the Nike logo on the heel. Even the insole gets in on the fun with the tagline “It’s in the sauce”.

While the inspiration for this design remains a bit of a mystery, one thing’s for sure: the Nike Air Max 1 “Chili Pepper” is sure to be a favorite during Air Max Day or early Summer 2024. The shoe is rumored to retail at US$140 for now.
