Needles, purveyor of Japanese Americana, reunites with ASICS; this time, setting their sights on the contemporary GEL-NYC. As they’ve established by the success of their EX89 collaboration, this new project promises a familiar blend of premium materials and distinctive design.

Soft leather and durable canvas form the Needles x ASICS GEL-NYC’s base layer, predominantly dressed in black. Juxtaposed against them, Needles’ signature purple work in tandem with the various stitching details, laces, and even a divided tongue where their logos playfully occupy each shoe.

As a finishing touch, Needles’ iconic butterfly logo rests on the heel, embroidered in the same vibrant purple, permeating the outsole as well to tie the whole look together.

There isn’t a firm release date yet but the Needles x ASICS GEL-NYC is set to launch through ASICS, Needles, and select retailers in March 2024. While the official price is yet to be announced, early estimates suggest a cost of around US$180. Stay tuned!
