Steven Smith’s Masterpiece Reborn: Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Cage 2 “Metallic Silver”
A 2024 reinterpretation of a sneaker that was a massive hit over two decades ago.
[Update 3 Apr 2024] The Nike Zoom Spiridon Cage 2 “Metallic Silver” hit retail shelves again on 1 April 2024 via Nike.com. The silhouette is seeing the light of day again after its successful revival in 2020. The “Metallic Silver” iteration comes at an RRP of US$170, a slight increase from four years ago, when the drop retailed for US$140.
When Steven Smith designed the original Nike Zoom Spiridon Cage 2 in 2003, such was its impact that even though it was meant to only be released in Japan, it spread all over the planet like wildfire in less than a hot minute. Following a successful revival in 2020, Nike’s bringing this sneaker back with a fresh new colorway—the Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Cage 2 “Metallic Silver”.
This shoe’s design adheres closely to the original’s. Metallic Silver leather is paired with breathable wide-spaced mesh for a spectacular sneaker centerpiece of the sneaker. Red accents on the Swoosh, tongue tag, and heel add further visual contrast.
The white midsole includes a visible Zoom Air unit in its heel. The midsole is tastefully paired with a black, red, and white outsole that provides durability, comfort, and traction. Every part of the sneaker is intended to portray classic retro vibes.
The Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Cage 2 Metallic Silver will be available in summer 2024 at Nike and select retailers, both online and in-store. A pair will sell for US$170.
