The Nike Ja 1 “Murray State” Goes Back to Where It All Began
A sneaker that tells the story of one of the most unlikely routes to the top of the basketball world.
Before bursting into the NCAA basketball spotlight at Murray State University, Ja Morant was regarded as a nondescript unranked high school prospect. However, as soon as Ja took to the Murray State court, it became obvious that he was destined for NBA stardom. As a call-back to his days there, Nike is releasing the Ja 1 “Murray State”.
The Murray State colors of Midnight Navy, Light Laser Orange, and Football Grey are evident on every part of the shoe. A Midnight Navy base of mesh and leather has striking Light Laser Orange accents on it, calling to mind Ja’s dynamic, explosive playstyle.
The heel counter is in Football Grey and the rubber outsole has Ja’s branding on it. All things considered, the sneaker encapsulates Ja’s path from zero-star recruit to the second pick in the 2019 NBA draft—and subsequently multiple-time NBA All-Star.
In spring 2024, the Nike Ja 1 “Murray State” will start being sold at select Nike Basketball retailers and online at Nike.com. The retail price tag is set at US$120 per pair.
