The Nike Dunk High SE “Hemp Hoops” Exhibits a Four-Decade Legacy
A timeless sneaker that fits in anywhere and in any era.
When the Nike Dunk High was first introduced in 1985, it was marketed almost exclusively as a basketball shoe. As the years went by, the sneaker transcended this status and by the early 2000s became a staple of the era’s streetwear. Drawing on this rich and storied legacy, Nike has released the latest Nike Dunk High entry: the Nike Dunk High SE “Hemp Hoops”.
The Nike Dunk High SE “Hemp Hoops” honors the shoe’s basketball heritage, embraces its streetwear appeal, and modernizes a classic design all at the same time. The hemp canvas base from which the colorway takes its name is well-paired with Light Blue suede overlays.
The sneaker features an eclectic color scheme of Grain, Black, Light Pumice, Pale Vanilla, Monarch, and Dark Stucco. Additionally, Black leather Swooshes grace the sides of the shoe.
Several other details that solidify the sneaker’s general look include Monarch tongue labels, heel tabs bearing the “Official Nike Basketball” insignia, and a light rubber outsole. To further underscore the element of nostalgia, the midsole is inspired by vintage Nike designs.
The Nike Dunk High SE “Hemp Hoops” was released on 29 January 2024. It’s available at select Nike Sportswear retailers both in-store and online, including Nike.com. Exclusively sold in men’s sizing, a pair has a retail price of US$140.
