Nike’s 2024 All-Star footwear collection greatly plays on nostalgia, particularly that for the 1990s. The 1998 Total Foamposite Max served as the inspiration for one of the collection’s standouts: the Nike GT Jump 2 “All-Star”.

The original Total Foamposite Max from over a quarter-century ago featured a then-groundbreaking molded Foamposite upper and full-length Air Max Sole. Although the Nike GT Jump 2 “All-Star” doesn’t completely replicate them, it nevertheless makes use of its color scheme to allude to them. The “All-Star” has a general aesthetic design that’s a call-back to the Silver/Black version of the Total Foamposite Max.

There’s also an iridescent pod on the lateral ankle to add a bit of flair. To add one last flourish of ’90s nostalgia, the Nike label on the tongue and insole is the one used all the way back then. This shoe therefore is an impressive blend of the past and present.

Exclusively available in men’s sizing, the Nike GT Jump 2 “All-Star” will be released on 13 February 2024 at select Nike Basketball retailers in-store, online, and on Nike.com. The retail price is US$190 per pair.
