Nike’s New Jordan Foam Runner Draws on Familiar Concepts
The shoe may have been inspired by Nike's Calm Slides and Ye's YEEZY Foam Runner.
The new Nike Jordan Foam Runner marks another chapter in Nike’s history of pushing boundaries and testing the limits of shoe design. After having taken inspiration from several sources, Nike has truly made this silhouette its very own by reinterpreting familiar concepts to create a distinctive shoe design.
This new Jordan Foam Runner appears to have taken inspiration from Nike’s recent Calm Slides as well as Kanye West’s YEEZY Foam Runner. Following the controversial ending of Kanye and adidas’ partnership, Nike and Jordan Brand seem to be considering stepping in to take advantage of the vacuum left behind.
The shoe’s core design also incorporates elements from the Trunner. The footbed contains an elephant print that’s not only aesthetically pleasing, but also serves a functional purpose by increasing airflow.
