Almost anyone who’s familiar with the Yu-Gi-Oh! series will recall the Rite of the Duel, the iconic final Duel between protagonist Yugi Muto and Atem. In this Core Booster, Konami has paid homage to that Duel—it serves as the set’s thematic basis.

To be released on 27 January 2024, Legacy of Destruction—the fourth Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game (TCG) Core Booster of Series 12—contains call-backs to that legendary sequence with new versions of cards like Silent Swordsman and Silent Magician.

Legacy of Destruction also introduces three new card archetypes: ”Raika”, “Sangen”, and “Tenpai Dragon”—as well as the Gold Sarcophagus of Light series.

This set contains 101 cards including 14 Ultra Rares, 10 Secret Rares, and one Quarter Century Secret Rare honoring the 25th anniversary of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG. A total of 24 cards which normally wouldn’t be Quarter Century Secret Rare cards are also available at that rarity.

Without further ado, here are some of Legacy of Destruction’s standout cards:

Magicians of Bonds and Unity

Just like its versions from prior Series 12 sets, Magicians of Bonds and Unity is the only Legacy of Destruction card which is Quarter Century Secret Rare-exclusive. This card was specifically created in honor of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG’s 25th anniversary and is therefore likely to feature as a Quarter Century Secret Rare in future Series 12 sets as well.

Owing to its rarity and novelty, this card is far and away the biggest catch of this set.

Geas Gandora the Dragon of Destruction (Quarter Century Secret Rare)

The cover card of Legacy of Destruction, this card is a retrained counterpart of the similarly-named Gandora the Dragon of Destruction. Part of the all-new Gold Sarcophagus of Light series, it’s only the fourth different card of the Gandora archetype to ever be released.

This is one of the set’s 25 cards that’s available as a Quarter Century Secret Rare card. It’s worth mentioning, however, that since this card also exists at other rarities, not every pull of this card will necessarily score the big prize.

Silent Magician Zero (Quarter Century Secret Rare)

A retrained counterpart of Silent Magician LV4 and Silent Magician LV8, this card is another of the 10 cards in the Gold Sarcophagus of Light series. Those who closely follow the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga might have noticed that every card in this series, including this one, is an update to one which Yugi used in his climactic series-ending Duel. This card being one of them, its position in the canonical lore is well-established.

Once again, this card is available in multiple rarities including Quarter Century Secret Rare.
