New Balance and atmos have a track record of collab hits, and their final act of 2023 is a sleek and sophisticated one: the atmos x New Balance 550 “Back in Black.” Following their “Cybernetics Blue” 2002R earlier this year, this new pair embraces a head-to-toe black monochromatic palette, with only subtle white accents adding a touch of contrast.

True to its name, the “Back in Black” features a premium leather upper that’s smooth in key areas like the mudguard, midfoot, collar, and heel.

Mesh keeps things breathable on the tongue and collar, while the toe box opts for perforated nubuck for texture. A pebbled leather “N” logo adorns the profiles, joined by white “550” branding on the lateral forefoot and subtle white piping on the midfoot. Underfoot, a black midsole and outsole complete the monochrome look.

Stay tuned: the atmos x New Balance 550 “Back in Black” drops exclusively on atmos Tokyo on 23 December 2023. A draw is currently open and closes on the 22nd. Coming in men’s sizes, the pair will carry a price tag of US$140.
