The Nike Air Max 1, a cornerstone of Nike’s legacy, has transcended time and trends since its groundbreaking debut in the late ’80s. As a brainchild of the legendary Tinker Hatfield, it was the first shoe to showcase the revolutionary visible Air unit, an avant-garde design element at the time.
Throughout its decades-long journey, the Air Max 1 has undergone countless reimagining, reinventions, and reintroductions. Yet, amidst its numerous successors, the OG remains the undisputed pinnacle of its evolution.
In celebration of the upcoming 2024 Summer Olympics, Nike is set to unveil a special “Olympic” colorway of the iconic shoe. This iteration boasts a vibrant palette of Obsidian, Metallic Gold, White, Light Smoke Grey, and University Red.
White mesh underlays provide a clean base, contrasted by sleek grey suede overlays and a bold Obsidian mudguard. The top plastic eyelets, along with the tongue, heel, and insole branding, are adorned with pops of University Red, adding a touch of energy and excitement.
However, the true highlight of this shoe undoubtedly lies in its golden accents. The iconic Swoosh logo shimmers in Metallic Gold, perfectly complementing the visible Max Air unit in the heel, which also boasts a glistening gold finish. This captivating combination of classic design and Olympic-inspired hues creates a truly special iteration of the Air Max 1.
The Nike Air Max 1 “Olympic” is slated for release in Fall 2024, available online and in-store through Nike, their SNKRS app, and select retailers. This commemorative release will be offered in men’s sizing, with a retail price of US$150.
