NIGO’s appointment as KENZO’s Artistic Director caused waves of excitement, and rightly so. Within a year of his newfound designation, he became the first “streetwear designer” to take home the grand prize at the Mainichi Fashion Grand Prix last year.

If you’re familiar with NIGO’s works, mainly through his legacy at BAPE and also HUMAN MADE, you’d also know about one of his good friends and frequent collaborator Verdy. The duo have been at it together for many years now, intertwining both HUMAN MADE and Girls Don’t Cry/Wasted Youth on a frequent basis. Most recently, the duo opened OTSUMO PLAZA—a concept store housing both creators’ brands, among others.

It was really only a matter of time before NIGO brought his good ol’ pal into the KENZO mix. First previewed at this year’s Paris Fashion Week, an extensive series of models walked KENZO’s runway donning clothing pieces that featured both artists’ handiwork. More often than not, you can see NIGO’s eccentric choice of apparel at work, strung together with Verdy’s signature cursive font that has been a mainstay for his labels.

KENZO x Verdy Collection

Now, the French luxury house has finally pulled the curtains on the capsule: the KENZO x Verdy Collection is set to drop on 1 December. This collection will mark NIGO’s first official KENZO collaborative project.

While the brand has not revealed exactly which pieces will be part of the KENZO x Verdy Collection, you can take a quick glance at some of the previews found during the brand’s SS24 Showcase at Paris Fashion Week. Surely, though, apparels featuring Verdy’s “KENZO Paris” will be part of it, as teased by the brand’s Instagram posts.

Stay tuned for more updates!
