Unheardof, a sneaker boutique store located in Cincinnati, Ohio, will soon be releasing a second collaborative sneaker with adidas. Previewed by the store’s owner Philip Lipschutz on Instagram, the Unheardof x adidas Rivalry Lo “Grandma’s Couch” is a tribute to Lipschutz’s history and upbringing.
For Lipschutz, his journey began quite literally on his “Grandma’s Couch”, which is the big inspiration behind this design. While teasing the “Mesa” colorway, Lipschutz looked back on his fond memories from sleeping on his grandmother’s sofa, where both his mom and grandma raised him to become the man he is today.
As the colorway’s name would suggest, the sneaker is reminiscent of what you’d find on an old couch: an intricate floral print runs through most of the upper’s corduroy base, while mustard and purple run through the leather overlays respectively.
It’s the emotional storytelling that runs deep within this collaboration, and one that fans will no doubt enjoy. Enjoy a first look at both colorways of the Unheardof x adidas Rivalry Lo “Grandma’s Couch”, and stay tuned for more details.
