Hangul Day is observed in South Korea on 9 October and North Korea on 15 January. It is a day commemorating the Hangul’s creation, the Korean alphabet, in the 15th century.

Leading up to the holiday, Nike will be releasing a special “Hangul Day” colorway in honor of the Korean writing system’s heritage. Behind the Nike Dunk Low version is the titular Air Max 1.

Homage is paid by way of its Sail, Khaki, Coconut Milk, and Light Orewood Brown color palette. It features a Sail mesh base with Brown suede overlays on the heels and mudguards, before proliferating over the rest of the upper.

The hangtag, heels, and insoles are all marked with Hangul graphics, and to complete the aesthetic, Coconut Milk midsoles introduce a retro finish.

There isn’t a firm release date yet but the pair should arrive within the next few months, likely before the holiday itself. When they do arrive, find them on Nike’s brick-and-click stores for US$160.

In other news, Verdy, Gentle Monster, and Budweiser are having a limited pop-up together.
