The Clarks Originals Desert Track Goes Utilitarian With Lace Toggle and Puffed Upper
A first look at the currently unnamed retrofitted pair from Clarks Originals.
Along with the Wallabee, the Desert Trek is one of Clarks Originals’ most popular offerings. Just as much as the former, the titular shoes has been reimagined and retrofitted in different colors and construction. For this latest iteration, it subs out the staple leather and suede materials for a rarely used canvas.
The design at first glance might be reminiscent of Reebok’s Beatnik or a pair of SUICOKEs. But it’s unmistakably Clarks with the Trek Man imprinted on the tongue tag, and debossed on the brand hallmark hang tags. It makes a few more appearances on the heel counter before taking its place on the footbed.
The pair’s most notable features are its biggest deviations from the silhouette’s original blueprint. At the fore is the form the upper takes. As opposed to its uniform smooth construction, the pair opts for a canvas material with organized stitching patterned over the surface. Lastly would be the toggle laces imbuing the pair with a utilitarian touch.
Details are scant at the time of writing with these leaked images the only Rosetta stone, but they at least ascertain the existence of the pair. More information and photos should emerge imminently so stay tuned!
