Individuals who have a certain level of familiarity with the assortment of offerings by American avant-garde designer Rick Owens would recognize the Geobasket sneakers. Yet, the captivating aspect about these shoes is that their original design was influenced by classic German army footwear, and perhaps even subtly by Nike sneakers.

The OG showcases a black and white leather upper, with a design that bears resemblance to Nike’s Swoosh logo. This resulted in a legal warning from the sportswear giant, prompting Rick Owens to subsequently release a refined edition of the design. This revamped version went on to become one of his distinctive and signature creations.

In the course of passing years, a new pair of Geobasket sneakers has now surfaced via online retailer Yoox. These shoes vividly bring back memories of the original design, with a notable absence of the hinted “Swoosh” panel.

Although there is no official confirmation yet on whether the pair is genuine or just a sample, it has swiftly attracted considerable attention within the sneaker community. If these sneakers are indeed gearing up for a launch, we will make sure to keep you informed right here.

Meanwhile, check out early looks of the pair on the article slider above.
