While the 2002R has always been at the vanguard of New Balance’s catalogue. This year, it’s been taken on by collaborators such as Shoe Palace and atmos. With more eyes on it again, NB is proceeding with more inline releases starting with the eponymous “Vachetta Leather”.

While it’s rare to see White dress the uppers of the silhouette, it works considering how well it lends contrast to even the lightest hues that address the various overlays.

Where tonal cream tones appear, so does Vachetta Leather. Both parts working in tandem to add dynamism to its muted aesthetic, particularly on the collar, the “N” on the profiles, as well as the fore of the midsoles. A final flourish comes by way of the outsoles underfoot.

There’s no firm release date yet but they’re expected to arrive within the year. Find them on New Balance’s brick-and-click stores for US$160 come D-Day, whenever that may be. Stay tuned!
