While the flames of Pokémon Card 151 are still fresh, a brand new set is fast on the horizon. The next Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) Scarlet & Violet expansion pack sees “Ruler of the Black Flame” [SV3] arriving on 28 July. It will contain a total of 108 cards (not including Secret Rare cards or better), and each box will contain 30 packs.

“Ruler of the Black Flame” will be the first set to introduce Type-Shifted Tera Type ex cards, differing from its standard typing. For long-time players and collectors, the return of ex cards is certainly a pleasing sight with Scarlet & Violet TCG releases, the first since the XY era in 2016.

While a full card list has not yet been published, an early livestream preview showcased a Dark-type Tera Charizard ex, which is also the main Pokémon featured on the box and pack artwork. Tyranitar ex and Eiscue ex also join in on the action, alongside the likes of Cleffa, Scyther, and Mawile.

Elite Four member Poppy also makes an appearance as a Supporter card, and possibly might receive a Full Art version when the Secret Rares are revealed.

A Deck Build Box of “Ruler of the Black Flame” was also announced in conjunction with the set reveal, which will contain the usual items such as packs, sleeves, coin, damage counters and a promo card.
