Professional golfer Michelle Wie West rose to prominence at only 10 years old when she became the youngest player to ever qualify for a USGA amateur championship; the youngest to win the US Women’s Amateur Public Links at 13; and at 14, for being the youngest to qualify for an LPGA Tour event.

These days, street culture seems to be finding more things in common with golf with the likes of Eastside Golf and Bogey Boys developing fashionable apparel centered around the sport. Furthering the phenomena, Wie becomes another link bridge between the two with the release of her Nike Air Jordan 1 Golf “Wave”.

She debuted the shoes on her Instagram earlier, heading into the US Women’s Open at Pebble Beach Resort.

The titular shoes arrive in its hallmark high-top form with a predominantly off-white leather base layer. The clean background allowing for the various motifs to take the spotlight. As mentioned by Wie herself in the post, the pair is embellished with plenty of Easter eggs, many of which alludes to her life.

The most distinct of these are the nods to her Hawaiian roots: the “Wave” that takes the form of the profile Swooshes, as well as the “ALOHA” seen through the teal crystal rubber outsole. Her daughter’s initials are imprinted on the tongue tag, presiding over the gradient pink laces that leads to a circular dubrae. Therein engraved: the iconic “JUST DO IT” slogan.

It’s been reported that the pair will release on 5th July with an accompanying apparel—a bucket hat and crewnecks—already available at Nike.com. Stay tuned for more details re the pair’s release. Sadly, they’ll only be released in limited quantities so stay tuned as we await more information!

In the meantime, consider a look at the Shoe Palace x New Balance 2002R “Lands End”.
