Onitsuka Tiger MEXICO 66 GDX Takes Inspiration From Japan’s Bullet Trains
Arriving in three distinct colorways.
With the resurgence of Y2K fashion, we are seeing more classic designs brought back to trend, including ones from Japan’s very own Onitsuka Tiger. Following the CACTFUL pack, the MEXICO 66 now surfaces in a new GDX rendition.
First released as part of the “Nippon Made” series in March, the MEXICO 66 GDX showcases a premium take on materials and details alongside Japanese artisan’s craftmanship. Inspired by Japan’s bullet train, also known as “Shinkansen”, the latest design takes on three color palettes found on various train models.
Lined up in “500”, “N700S” and “923 Doctor Yellow” colorways, the pairs feature a Kobe leather construction, accentuated by its high-density embroidered stripes on the lateral sides. Each pair will arrive alongside a special shoe box design and tote bag inspired by its own bullet train model.
Slated to release on 1 July, the Onitsuka Tiger MEXICO 66 GDX “Shinkansen” pack will be available for purchase via selected Onitsuka Tiger stores and online. Retail price is set at 44,000 JPY (~US$310) per pair.
