The footwear industry contributes a large part of the global greenhouse emissions. With Nike at the forefront of the industry, much is expected of them to lead the change towards more sustainable production as well.

They’ve made renewed efforts in this direction like the introduction of their signature Nike Grind material. Keeping their best foot forward, they present this iteration of the iconic Air Max 1 ’86 with hemp, a material renowned for its sustainable properties.

Complementing the predominantly hemp upper, woven overlays are introduced in contrast to the stitched black edging. Adding another dynamic is the bone tumbled leather in the make of the profile Swooshes and mudguards. Tonally, it unifies the body with the Sail midsole that bears the sneaker’s hallmark Air unit.

For its fineries, unique graphic insoles highlight the pair’s “World Made” motif, in addition to the “WM” stitched on the tongue. The pair will be housed in a special packaging embellished with scuffed imprints to give the shoebox a textured appearance. It’s an inline release but its unique subtleties give it a bespoke touch.

There isn’t much known about the pair just yet but more details should emerge sooner rather than later.

Similar in theme and construction, check out the Nike Air Max 97 Next Nature “Floral Tapestry”.
