A rare deconstructivist take on the iconic pair.

When anniversaries usually entail a slew of special releases of the model, the Nike Cortez’s 50th anniversary last year was relatively subdued. Nevertheless, the Swoosh plans to make up for a lackluster 2022 by releasing their archetypal silhouette in striking new looks throughout the rest of 2023.

At the vanguard comes the pair’s monochromatic “Yin and Yang” color-blocking, reminiscent of CLOT’s two-toned, kung-fu-inspired “CLOTEZ”. But its unusual zippered lace shroud is easily its most distinct feature, one that’s daringly integrated onto its upper.

To convey a “Yin and Yang” feel, Swooshes, tongues, heels, pull tabs, and insoles are separated. Black is utilized on the medial, with White covering the lateral side and two boxes. All the above-mentioned is anchored by a midsole made entirely of Black rubber and a solid White rubber outsole.

There’s no release date nor a price point just yet. But with these official images surfacing, expect them to arrive within the coming weeks or months. When they do, find an update here at this very page. Stay tuned!

If a muted palette is your cup of tea, consider a look at the Nike Air Jordan 1 Low Craft “Cement Grey”.
