Mr. Sabotage Presents His First Independently Produced Shoe: “The Archive Sneaker”
Launching first at Sneakertopia Asia.
Mr. Sabotage is one of, if not, the biggest sneaker-cum-streetwear designer in Singapore. Starting in the early 2000s, Mr. Sabotage, aka Mark Ong, found his calling in the realm of sneaker customization. His handiwork paved the way for his studio, STBG Surplus, to become one of the biggest influences within the South East Asia region.
While his works have seen him land collaborations with the likes of Nike, ASICS, and New Balance to name a few, the artist hasn’t produced his own silhouette. That’s about to change in 2023, as Mark looks to celebrate his 20-year milestone.
Indeed, on 15 April, SBTG Surplus will reveal their first-ever independently produced shoe: “The Archive Sneaker”. Dressed in Mr. Sabotage’s signature color palettes and prints, the shoe is essentially a homage to his 20-year journey thus far and a display of his early artwork weaved into “The Archive Sneaker’s” design.
The sneaker will make its debut exclusively at Sneakertopia on 15 April, which also currently houses his personal collection of vintage shoes and custom pieces. But there’s a catch: only 50 pairs will be available at the Sneakertopia retail store, which also means it’s going to be extremely hard to get for now.
Joining “The Archive Sneaker” is a special edition SBTG “XX Appliqué” Tee that celebrates SBTG Surplus’ 20th anniversary. Both the sneaker and the tee will be sold together as a bundle at Sneakertopia.
It’s definitely an exciting chapter for Mr. Sabotage and his team over at SBTG Surplus, and we can’t wait to see the sneaker in hand come 15 April. Do remember to check out Sneakertopia and purchase your tickets for 15 April early to be one of the first 50 people in the world to secure “The Archive Sneaker”!
