Air Max Day might have just passed, but Nike is showing no signs of slowing down with Air Max 1 releases. With the likes of legendary OG colorways like the “Keep Rippin Stop Rippin” and “Urawa/Grey” slated to return, the Beaverton-based brand will now look to release a brand new design with the Nike Air Max 1 “Denim Leopard”.

As the name suggests, this upcoming iteration of Tinker Hatfield’s iconic silhouette sees the usage of denim and leopard prints utilised across its uppers. While they’re certainly eye-catching, a whole mix of other materials join the Air Max 1’s construction to give it that extra touch of quality. Exaggerated stitching details all across the mudguard, while Nike’s traditional laces are replaced with a more rope-like texture.

Speaking of which, the lateral Swooshes also come in a patterned texture, a feature found across the white base layer of the uppers. The ankle collar as well comes in an intricate red-and-gold design, which is joined by an all-over print found on the insoles. The shoe is rounded off with a red hue being applied to its visible air bubble, although some might find it a waste that it doesn’t come in its “Big Bubble” form given recency bias.

That being said, this Nike Air Max 1 PRM “Denim Leopard” definitely merits its premium tag. While it is a wild design to a certain extent, the different elements complement each other well and create a cohesive-yet-complex colorway that is fitting for the iconic silhouette.

Expect to find this upcoming iteration on Nike SNKRS and select retailers come 28 April, at a retail price of US$160.
