White Mountaineering’s Monochromatic Signature on the Vans Authentic and Classic Slip-On
Made for the asphalt jungle.
White Mountaineering and Vans is not a recent partnership with collaborations dating back to 2010, in addition to another Billy’s exclusive in 2015. Founded in 2006 by Yosuke Aizawa, the Tokyo-based label amalgamates the performance technology of outdoors wear with the aesthetic demands of the contemporary fashion world. The unison of “design, practicality, and technology” into one form.
That said, the aforementioned elements befall two Vans quintessence: the Authentic and Classic Slip-On. Per WM’s MO, the monochromatic color palette are a mainstay in this effort. Black making the upper, white the sole unit.
It’s simplicity at its best; thought through minimalism, well-balanced. Though the design is definitely understated, the cuff leather in its make is an exponential leap from the standard canvas. Its final flourish the decorative stitching around the tongue and collar; the serrated pattern formed with the “W” and “M” of the Japanese streetwear label’s initials.
They’ll be available at White Mountaineering’s brick-and-click from 25 March for JPY15,400 (~US$110).
