A Look at the Unreleased A Ma Maniére Air Jordan 1 “Hand Wash Cold” Sample
The official AMM AJ1... in an alternate universe.
Atlanta-based A Ma Maniére has had a string of success with their Jordan Brand partnership in recent years like 2022’s Air Jordan 4 “Violet Ore”. Preceding that however, there was their collaboration on the Air Jordan 1. In an alternate universe, the titular “Hand Wash Cold” would’ve been its final form.
Images of the sample pair surfaced online recently, courtesy of @jfgrails and @ballintwn3. Therein depicted, the snakeskin pattern is more pronounced compared to the final release. It still permeates the same area on the profile Swooshes and the ankle collar, but in a contrasting black hue as opposed to the released version’s burgundy.
While the pair that hit the shelves featured a suede finish, the alternate bore a textured leather white. The AMM branding too is different; whereas the placement on the former’s through embroidery on the heel counter, the latter sees it on a label stitched on disparately. In the same area, there’s the debossed cleaning institution graphics that would’ve added an interesting detail, but at the same time would’ve disrupted the uniformity that final release had.
There are other models in the works between the two parties, so there’s always a chance the motif could be revisited in future projects.
Elsewhere under the Swoosh’s umbrella, have a first look at the CLOT x Nike Cortez “Forrest Gump”.
