If high fashion streetwear is a niche you indulge in, then WHO DECIDES WAR is a brand that would have undoubtedly be in your periphery. Aside from capturing the attention of Virgil Abloh and Heron Preston, the label’s co-founder, Ev Bravado, is also recognized as one of the pioneers of DIY denim in couture. And while his tie-dye renditions of denim wear is a striking technique, the brand is also not afraid to dabble in the other side of the spectrum—the delicate use of lace in its tough, outdoor pieces.

For FW23, led by founders Ev Bravado and Tela D’Amore, WHO DECIDES WAR permeates their blended approach to garments onto the adidas Superstar. As models strutted down the runway in gothic-esque streetwear, adidas Superstars decked out in intricate lace and beads were spotted peeking through patchwork denim pants. The bridal feel of this design has led to commenters proclaiming they’d get married in this—a statement before the vow, for sure.

Another design sees WHO DECIDES WAR indulging the Superstar in tassels that hang off laced (both meanings intended) eyelets. This expansive Superstar collaboration ends off with WHO DECIDES WAR’s expertise in dye techniques, with the silhouette either spotted with ink or sporting diluted patches of paint, as if they were “dyed-on-accident”. It’s as subversive as the brand’s other offerings, and fans of the label would find an easy resonance in this collab.
