Nike Celebrates 20th Anniversary of “Finding Nemo” With Air Force 1 “Clownfish”

As cool as it would have been, unfortunately this is not an official collaboration.

Pixar Animation Studios’ “Finding Nemo” was a blockbuster in every meaning of the word. Coming off a long line of successful animated Pixar films, “Finding Nemo” was one of those you just couldn’t miss in your childhood.

Clearly, designers at Nike share the same sentiment. Coming into the film’s 20th anniversary, Nike is poised to honor the legacy of “Finding Nemo” with a kids’ exclusive Nike Air Force 1 Low featuring clownfish motifs.

While it’s not an official collaboration between the two, the inspiration behind the new Air Force 1 is clear. A clean white takes on most of the uppers’ base. Orange adorns most of the overlays, with a wave-like pattern appearing on the rear. Black then accentuates the design, painting the laces, inner lining and collar of the shoe.

The Nike tongue branding goes underwater, with motifs of blue fishes and bubbles surrounding the Swoosh. If the color scheme is not apparent enough, then a graphic of a smiling clownfish on the heel makes it double clear as to what the “Clownfish” is all about.

Mimicking the ocean floor to an extent, the outsole is outfitted with what seems to be Nike Grind material. Not only is it sustainable, it also looks like Nemo’s dwellings on the seabed. It’s a perfect way of incorporating Nike’s commitment to the environment into their designs.

A release date has not been announced at the moment. Having said that, no one will be shocked if Nike chooses a date close to 6th June given it coincides with the film’s release. Perhaps it’s a good family day idea to outfit your kids with these Nike Air Force 1 PS “Clownfish” and re-watch “Finding Nemo”, don’t you think?
