ROLLER magazine is a bilingual quarterly publication focused on vintage, classic motorcycles. Celebrating the rich culture of Harley-Davidson, Indian, Triumph and the like. Within it, there’s a popular serial column headed by Japanese multi-hyphenate Tomoya Nagase called “Anti-Normal Genuine Excuse”. The name, lent to their incoming Vans collaboration.

Two colorways, in turquoise and black, alternate between each pair of the Authentics, the model retrofitted with velcro straps. They’re specially padded to support the motion of performing a gear change on a bike, kicking the top of the feet up the gearshift lever. In addition to that, there’s the embroidery of “TOM” on the lateral heel, perhaps a nod to the music artist himself, who also led the design of the shoes. The exterior is kept relatively simple with a uniform colorway throughout, finished off with a dual-branded footbed inside.

The release will be executed in waves with the first taking place on 11 March, 12pm (JST), at their Akasaka, Kanazawa, and Fukuoka kiosks. The next will be a week later on the 18th at Daikanyama Tsutaya Bookstore, at 9am. The final one of which takes place the same day at 9pm, at ROLLER WEB. A pre-sale will also be opened to their qualifying subscribers via an email link that will be sent at the beginning of the month

They’re priced at JPY14,300 (~US$110) and will be available in a wide range of sizes from the 6-12.
