[Update 22 Feb 2023] Looks like the FOOT INDUSTRY x adidas Originals collection is arriving sooner than expected. Officially releasing on 23 February, the collaborative pairs will be available for purchase via the adidas CONFIRMED app and selected retailers.

For their maiden collaboration, adidas and Japanese shoemaker FOOT INDUSTRY subsumes three classics from the former’s catalogue: The Superstar, Campus, and the Rivalry Low. The collection is an amalgamation of the two’s signatures. adidas providing the canvas, FOOT INDUSTRY the “paint”.

In a way, it’s like going back to the drawing board. An overhaul of modern sneakers. Contemporary designs executed with traditional craftsmanship. It’s about “pursuing the essence of products through sophisticated manufacturing.”

The first is the Superstar, officially abbreviated to SST. It features a white leather base layer with the hallmark textured rubber in Off White that engulf the entirety of the sole unit. The three stripes on the quarter is retrofitted with leather linings woven together to form the iconic strips.

Next is the Campus, the color scheme is simple with a singular off white suede forming the body of the upper. This uniformity is broken only by the presence of the interwoven leather strips that takes the place of the the iconic three stripes on the quarter.

Last is the Rivalry Low. Arriving in an off white make as well, the base layer of the upper is made entirely of leather with synthetic lining making up the three stripes on the profiles. The craftsmanship motif is presented here through the exposed stitching on the head of the tongue, and the juncture of the heel counter.

All three feature the Trefoil logo on the tongue, more imprints in the white interior, and a dual-branded insignia debossed on the heel tag. The collection will be sold on the CONFIRMED app from 26 February, 10am, JST; with a price tag of JPY19,800 (~US$150).
