[Update 29 Mar 2023] It seems like both colors of the Nike Air Max 1 Slide will debut in Japan come 20 April! While the “White/Black” pair is already available on Nike US at a retail price of US$75, Japan looks set to receive both the “White/Black” and “Sport Red” colorways for its debut release. Interestingly enough, they’re also expected to be slightly cheaper, coming in at 9,750JPY (~US$70). Expect to find them on Nike Japan and select retailers come 20 April, and expect these to make their way to the rest of Asia in the coming months.

The Max’s legacy was extended in 2014, and Nike has now taken things to the next level by launching the “Month of Air” campaign, which extended the celebration over the whole month of March. Given that Nike is bringing the Big Bubble back to the Air Max 1 and increasing the line-up, 2023 is obviously going to be a big year for Air Max.

And the Beaverton-based sportswear brand has more plans for the silhouette than just that. Additionally, the Swoosh will release a pair of slides inspired by the Tinker Hatfield-created emblem, debuting the Nike Air Max 1 Slides in two colorways: “Sport Red” and “White/Black”.

The most well-known Nike sneakers have a history of being transformed into slides, as shown by the Air More Uptempo Slides “In Your Face”. The same approach is now being given to this latest silhouette. Only the midsole is still intact, but it has also been slightly altered, and most of the upper has been completely gone, with the exception of portions of the toe box and mid-panel.

It has accentuated mudguards, a white mesh strap with suede overlays, Nike Air Max logo, and a partially embroidered Swoosh on each side. The footbed is decorated with the relevant colorway’s trademark and is supported by a white midsole and the iconic visible Air unit.

Take a peak at the official images above and keep an eye out for the Nike Air Max 1 Slide in “Sport Red” and “White/Black” to drop via Nike in the coming months.
